"We had a really positive experience with the whole process. Manhattan Birth was very efficient in referring us to some doula candidates and our interviews were scheduled briefly thereafter and we ended up picking one of them."
HAPPY NEW PARENT
A doula is not a luxury. A doula is for everyone. Finding a doula is finding a valuable and cherished member of your team. Birth and postpartum doulas have been there before and can prepare you for what is to come so there are no surprises. A doula can guide you, holding your hand throughout pregnancy, birth and postpartum. They make sure YOUR needs are met. They remind you that you are an important part of this journey.
Childbirth is one of the most life altering transitions. We are not meant to go it alone. Even if you have a partner, you need a village to rally behind you and remind you that you got this.
Manhattan Birth doulas talk the talk, walk the walk, and are with you every step of the way.
Did your doula make all the difference in birth or postpartum?
Now imagine not having access to this vital part of your team that walked with you on your journey.
We believe everyone should have a doula. Doulas provide essential support that improves outcomes for birthing and postpartum families. This work is necessary due to the current maternal mortality crisis in the U.S. and their lackluster neonatal mortality rates.
Insurance does not cover doulas. It covers medical care without educational, emotional or physical support needed for a life transition such as birth and postpartum.
Our goal is to make doula care, childbirth education, lactation classes and more accessible to all in an effort to provide expecting families to have a better birth or postpartum experience.
People who are marginalized are already working against a system that doesn’t work for them. They need to find a doula to be their best advocate.
Your donation helps those who need this service most find a doula that's the best fit for their family.
"Our postpartum doula was amazing. She was so warm, thoughtful and had such a calming presence. I felt cared for and completely at ease with. She was extra sweet with our toddler son, and was the best with our newborn baby."
