Integrative Lactation and Feeding Specialist Program™

Lactation training for birth workers who want to expand their practice

You already support families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Lactation and feeding questions are often part of that work, too. This training is an opportunity to spend more time with the knowledge, questions, and complexities that come up around infant feeding.

The Integrative Lactation and Feeding Specialist Training Program™ is a 10-week intensive covering lactation and infant feeding, pumping and milk expression, feeding alternatives, cultural considerations, inclusive care, common challenges, case studies, and the business of offering lactation support.

The program is designed for birth workers who want to deepen their knowledge while developing practical skills they can bring into their existing work.

Meetings are held virtually every other Monday evening from 5–7pm Eastern.

Fall 2026 enrollment opens Fri, October 16 and closes Mon, November 9.

Class dates:

  • November 9
  • November 23
  • December 7
  • December 14
  • January 4
  • Exam review: January 11
  • Exam: January 19-25

"Tanya and Sarah also have the best sense of humor and made us all feel incredibly empowered throughout the course. What’s kind of amazing is that, with so many different experience levels and professions in one class, the course somehow manages to meet everyone exactly where they are."

Creating a community of birth workers who focus on the goals of the family.

People having babies don't always receive the kind of holistic, integrative lactation and feeding support they need.

Too often, families leave the hospital with a 2- or 3-day-old baby, a list of feeding instructions, and a pediatrician who may not have the training or time to assess the lactating or feeding parent. The medical-industrial complex can leave a lot of families trying to figure out what comes next on their own, often turning to Dr. Google, guilt, shame, and confusion.

This is where you, the Integrative Feeding Specialist™, can play an important role.

Families need birth workers who can bring knowledge and practical support to those conversations while staying grounded in the goals of the family, rather than promoting one particular way of feeding.

That's the foundation of our approach.

It's more than just the milk. It's about the whole family, their circumstances, their choices, and what works for them.

"Tanya and Sarah, thank you again for a wonderful course! I learned so much more with you all, than in my previous Lactation program! I appreciate your most practical advice!!! This was awesome! So glad that we will have access to the vids for the next year because they are so helpful to refer back to!"

Because feeding support is part of the work, too.

Our 10-week lactation training for birth workers covers:

  • the current state of breastfeeding/bodyfeeding in the United States
  • anatomy and physiology of lactation and infant reflexes
  • contraindications to bodyfeeding
  • pumping and milk expression
  • the hospital environment and its impact on lactation
  • cultural considerations in infant feeding
  • alternatives to bodyfeeding
  • inducing lactation
  • inclusive and holistic approaches to feeding support
  • real-world scenarios and case studies
  • scope of practice and knowing when to refer
  • growing a lactation support practice
  • ...and more!

You might be ready for this training if:

☐ you've watched families abandon feeding plans you know could work, but you've reached the edge of your current training and had to refer out.

☐ you know there's more to supporting families than rigid feeding protocols, especially when working with diverse families and circumstances.

☐ you're already answering feeding questions for free, whether it's a DM or a text at 11pm from someone who needs help.

☐ you see the potential for lactation support to become part of your work, but you don't yet feel confident in your knowledge, skills, or ability to charge for that support.

☐ you want to expand your offerings beyond doula or educator work with training that aligns with your values as a provider.

"It was a pleasure training under both Tanya and Sarah. They made the classes so accessible, fun and enjoyable. Thank you both."
